The Carolina Cane Gathering of 2019 will be held April 11-13, 2019.  We will be back at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education (fish hatchery) where we have been for the last several years.

For 2019 we are going to be encouraging everyone to bring their “favorite” rod for the rodmakers challenge.  Much like the “Challenge Rods” at other gatherings we will set aside some time for casting and comparison.  In order to participate we are asking that you bring the rod with you and submit the taper ahead of time (we will provide a form for you to submit with your registration).  Everyone attending the gathering will receive a booklet with all of the compiled tapers.  Our goal is to help find that next rod that you’d like to build.

Registration information will be coming in the new year but we wanted to go ahead and let everyone know the dates and have enough time to work on their “favorite” rod.

The annual Carolina Cane Gathering strives to provide rodmakers (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) with opportunities to meet other builders, share tools and techniques, brainstorm on common (and not-so-common) problems, cast rods, and enjoy fellowship. The details of this year’s program are still in development, but you can count on a mix of presentations by experts, plenty of time for Q&A, round-table style discussions of specific issues in rodmaking, and the opportunity to cast rods built by participants in the Gathering. We also anticipate having a silent auction and a swap meet.
